The 5-camera system ensures extra vigilance when operating in residential areas and eliminates blind spots. Providing drivers with the visibility to avoid pedestrians, parked vehicles, property, animals, and other road users. This empowers them to work more confidently.

However, irrespective of the increased safety granted by installing the CameraMatics system, it doesn’t change the fact that waste management providers such as Thorntons Recycling operate in busy residential areas, with high levels of contact with the public.

By utilizing the CameraMatics system endless amounts of time has been saved by Thorntons Recycling when handling queries from the public. Being able to review footage captured means that CameraMatics acts as an independent witness providing indisputable evidence on Thorntons Recycling behalf.

We are no longer dependent on an estimated time from a customer. Being able to pinpoint the exact time of the event on the system. The customer could say it happened at 10am, but it was 10.40am. What once was very time-consuming – now is a streamlined straightforward process”. – Kevin Cullen, Housing Department

The ability to exonerate drivers of claims such as damaging private property or missing bin collections has been immensely beneficial from a financial and team moral perspective for Thorntons Recycling.

Thanks to cameras, we can check, investigate and come back to either a member of the public, third party, or customer, and give them feedback and video-evidence, letting them know who is responsible for the incident”. – Jagoda

Important to Thorntons Recycling in their relationship with any supplier is the level and quality of customer care.

I have a great relationship with everyone in CameraMatics, and the team is great. They understand the business, and me and my team’s needs. You know, sometimes I don’t even have to tell them, they know”.

Having previously had half of the fleet split between CameraMatics and another supplier, Thorntons Recycling opted to move all to CameraMatics based on the quality of service and excellent customer support.

The only reason I got rid of them was just the support was very, very poor. And I can’t have poor support because we need to work fast. If you have a good relationship, everything will fall into place”.
