A strong defence: Scania reveals its new protected cab to the world

Scania has reinforced its defence line-up with the introduction of its modular protected cab at Eurosatory 2026.

Revealed to the world for the first time at the global defence and security show, this cab has

been designed for mission critical defence logistics – by combining crew protection with

mobility and operational availability.

For the first time, defence and security customers will be able to order Scania’s protected

cab without needing to move to a separate dedicated vehicle platform.

To achieve this, Scania has created a new performance step for its modular system that

sees it build robust, reliable and adaptable transport solutions, able to suit modern defence

and security requirements.

Stefano Fedel, Head of Scania Commercial, said: “Defence logistics and transport resilience

are becoming increasingly important for armed forces and societies across Europe and

beyond.

“With the protected cab, Scania combines protection and operational capability with the

modularity, reliability and support systems already proven across our global transport

ecosystem.”

The protected cab has been designed and engineered to allow the crew to perform their jobs

safely and effectively. While the vehicle has to be able to tackle demanding terrain,

challenging weather around-the-clock.

The cab environment gives drivers additional manoeuvrability and control when the

operational situation gets complex. Inside, drivers will instantly recognise Scania’s trademark

visibility, ergonomics and driver environment.

Protecting the crew is at the core of this vehicle design, and is fitted with ballistic and blast

protection. These levels can be configured to suit operational requirements and mission

profiles, and integrate with mission specific systems, equipment and bodywork. The product

is fully compliant with STANAG 4569 Level 1–3.

A key feature of this concept is Scania’s modular approach. Customers can configure

vehicles according to mission requirements and operational phases, supporting both training

and operational readiness within the same vehicle architecture.

The protected cab is available in 4×4, 6×6 and 8×8 configurations and is designed to fulfil

strategic mobility requirements, including meeting UIC GA train tunnel profile specifications.

This gives customers added flexibility over time and contributes to efficient use of protected

resources.
