In today’s rapidly changing business environment, employers increasingly look to highly skilled professionals across new and emerging disciplines; Atlantic Technological University (ATU) is offering two new upskilling courses to meet this demand— Certificate in Logistics and Marketing (L7) and Certificate in Business Models and Emerging Technologies (L8).

The two new Certificate L 7 and L8 courses have been initiated though the Human Capital Initiative (HCI) Pillar 3, a Government education fund. HCI courses are aimed at upskilling and reskilling graduates with postgraduate and industry relevant skills for emerging technologies.

The Certificate in Logistics & Marketing (L7) demonstrates the importance of analytics, metrics and marketing tools to reaching markets faster with their products and services. This part-time course will be delivered in a blended format, with a mix of on-site and on-line lectures. There will be two on-site sessions in ATU, Castlebar, County Mayo, a residential weekend in Sligo and an experiential workshop in Letterkenny during the academic year. Lecturers will use case studies and guest lecturers will feature in the delivery.

Declan Hoban, Programme Chair, explains: “The course will enable participants to upskill, be creative and adapt to the challenges and opportunities presented by the pandemic and Brexit. Participants will examine how emerging technologies are transforming business models and the workforce”.

The Certificate in Business Models and Emerging Technologies (Level 8) will demonstrate how contemporary business models and emerging technologies are transforming organisations. The aim of this module is to demonstrate how business models and emerging technologies are not arising to disrupt organisations, but rather provide a competitive edge so that they are more agile in reaching markets expediently.

The delivery will be a blend of onsite and online lectures including two onsite sessions in ATU Mayo campus (Castlebar), a residential weekend in Sligo and an experiential workshop in Letterkenny during the academic year.

Michael Gill, Head of Department in Organisational Development, ATU School of Business, added: “The new HCI courses have been developed in collaboration with colleagues in the ATU Galway – Mayo, Sligo and Letterkenny campuses and focus on the development of talent in the region. “

Dr Seamus Lennon, Head of School of Business, ATU Galway Mayo, commented: “Supporting part-time learners and talent development in this region is of paramount importance to us, specifically in these continually evolving areas of logistics, marketing, business models and emerging technologies”.
