Fleet Transport hosts Test Days for Irish Truck of the Year 2027 – – in association with PTSB
All of the main HGV brands lined-up for the 23rd annual Fleet Transport Irish Truck of the Year Awards 2027 Test Days – in association with long-term sponsors PTSB. The three day exercise, held at the Johnstown Estate Hotel, Enfield was undertaken by eight expert and independent adjudicators who assessed each and every commercial vehicle nominated for various categories within the truck and van segments.
For this contest there were two main truck classes for the Fleet Transport Irish Truck of the Year 2027, sponsored by PTSB – Fleet spec Tractor-units and Construction trucks.
Under splendid sunshine, the panel managed to test drive all of the vehicles on local roads around counties Meath and Kildare and made a specially pre-arranged trip to a nearby quarry at Broadford to check out the capability and manoeuvrability of the construction type trucks off-road. They were also given technical presentations by the various brand representatives.
The winners will be announced at the annual Fleet Transport Awards which are taking place on Thursday 15th October 2026 at The Johnstown Estate Hotel, Enfield, County Meath.
As explained by Jarlath Sweeney, Group Editor, Fleet Publications, the judging sheet, on which the panel bases its marks, covers numerous aspects of each vehicle’s cab design and styling including its overall appearance, aerodynamics, entry and exit, driver comfort, ergonomics, safety enhancements, powertrain efficiency and overall visibility.
