As the roadmap to exit the current pandemic is set out by Government, the Coach Tourism & Transport Council (CTTC) is requesting that the authorities need to listen to its concerns.
Last Saturday, following a specially convened Cabinet meeting, Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe announced a range of new supports to address the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on businesses. Although not sector-specific, the measures should somewhat help the industry on the crucial areas of commercial rates, liquidity supports and cash grants. They represent an important further step in addressing the cash flow crisis affecting so many bus and coach operators. However, more intervention is needed to support the sector which has been hit the quickest and hardest by COVID-19.
In addition, the Government’s Roadmap which sets out a timetable for the phased reopening of the economy was also published and CTTC representatives will be seeking much more clarity on this for the industry. As a member of COVID Tourism Monitoring Group, members of the CTTC Board attended a video call conference with Ministers Ross and Griffin yesterday afternoon.
