Three customers queued for up to 17 hours to get free chicken sandwiches for a year, as Applegreen opened its first Popeyes restaurant at Midway, Junction 17 on the M7.
Two customers had queued from 6pm on Thursday, while the third joined the queue at 8pm, ahead of the restaurant opening at 11am on Friday. Each of the first 100 customers received Popeyes giveaways.
Trading at the new restaurant was strong throughout Friday and across the weekend, as customers in the Midlands sampled Popeyes® world-famous Shatter Crunch chicken.
Applegreen has created 40 new jobs with the opening of the new Popeyes restaurant, which is the brand’s second outlet in the Republic of Ireland following its recent opening in Blanchardstown earlier this month.
Applegreen intends to create 450 new jobs over the next four years, as it rolls out Popeyes chicken restaurants in a €6 million expansion programme.
