DAF Trucks Ireland has loaned a DAF XF tractor-unit to the Bus Workers Charity Fund, a charitable organisation providing humanitarian aid to those affected by the Chernobyl disaster.
Following the Chernobyl disaster of 1986 those directly affected by the incident – and their descendants – continue to experience a number of conditions and diseases as a result of the explosion. Each year the Bus Workers drive three days from Cork to Belarus to deliver humanitarian aid and supplies, such as clothing and beds, to those displaced and affected by the disaster.
For the next trip the DAF XF truck will be used to transport supplies which have been donated by supporters of this noteworthy cause.
Tommy Smith, Managing Director of DAF Trucks Ireland commented: “We are delighted to be able to play our part in supporting the Bus Workers Charity Fund and we wish all the volunteers a safe and successful journey.”
