EXCLUSIVE! World premiere: MAN eTGX with greater range, efficiency and safety

At IAA Transportation 2026, MAN Truck & Bus is presenting a new fully electric eTGX for heavy-duty long-haul transport. Its innovative design is defined by a vehicle front extended a further 120 millimetres, allowing MAN to make efficient use of the EU length allowances for zero-emission vehicles to optimise aerodynamics and safety. Combined with a new battery generation offering ten per cent more usable energy compared with the previous generation, as well as recuperation performance improved by up to 20 per cent, the new MAN eTGX runs up to three per cent more efficiently than its predecessor model.

For a typical 4×2 tractor unit with six batteries and 552 kWh total capacity, this increases range to up to 660 kilometres. The 6×2 tractor unit, which will also be available in future with seven batteries and 644 kWh total capacity, can achieve up to 720 kilometres without intermediate charging. The compact size, low weight and variable combinability of the batteries remain unchanged. There is also a gain in the drive power on offer, which now ranges from 333 to 598 hp.

Charging stops are made particularly time-efficient thanks to the optional MCS charging connector, which MAN has been producing in series since July. With a maximum charging capacity of 750 kW, the batteries can be recharged in around thirty minutes, meaning charging can take place during the driver’s mandatory break. Shorter downtimes mean better vehicle utilisation, greater flexibility and, as a result, even more efficient operation.

In addition to improved efficiency, the optimised front end of the new MAN eTGX also provides greater safety: combined with a lower-set windscreen frame and a new low-set window in the passenger door, the driver has better direct visibility of other road users in front of and alongside the vehicle. This means it already meets forthcoming legal requirements.

“With the new MAN eTGX, we are taking the next major step towards decarbonising long-haul transport. The combination of a new battery generation, further increased range, megawatt charging and a vehicle design consistently geared towards efficiency creates tangible economic added value for our customers in day-to-day operations. At the same time, we are improving direct visibility and, with it, safety for all road users,” says Alexander Vlaskamp, Chairman of the Executive Board of MAN Truck & Bus.

For all truck ranges, MAN is also presenting numerous innovations in assistance and safety systems at the IAA, which will deliver even greater efficiency, safety and comfort in future: the predictive cruise control EfficientCruise now integrates traffic infrastructure even more intelligently. The active interplay between the FrontDetection, turning assist and emergency brake assist systems offers vulnerable road users in front of and alongside the vehicle even better protection, including at low speeds. For the first time, the new MAN eTGX also features new comfort functions for the driver, including wireless smartphone charging, EasyControl controls on the passenger door, a high-output 230-volt socket, and a mechanical night lock for additional protection during rest periods.
