Goggins Transport, which celebrated forty years in business last year has further extended its partnership with LPR, Europe’s second largest pallet pooling provider, signing another five year agreement.

Building on the growing relationship, which commenced five years ago, sees Goggins Transport operating the transport, storage, repair and distribution of LPR pallets.

Last year Goggins opened two new depots in Dublin and Galway, which increases LPR’s presence in Ireland, and are key drivers in the logistics leader’s strategic plan of expansion within the UK and Ireland markets. This investment of more than €500,000 across both new sites allows the movement of one million pallets initially, although there is potential at both Dublin and Galway to expand as business in Ireland increases.

The depots, which will employ a total of 18 staff, are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including two inspection towers, Vac-u-Lifts, two repair benches and semi-automated in and out feeds. The Dublin site will also upgrade facilities with a paint booth, as it strives to provide customers with ever greater efficiency.

Commenting on the successful business relationship with Goggins Transport, Adrian Fleming, LPR UK & Ireland General Manager, said: “Working in partnership with Goggins at their new Dublin and Galway facilities is an important development as we continue our efforts to expand our customer base within Ireland. Our focus in Ireland over the past couple of years has paid off, as we have recorded a 40% year-on-year increase in pallet movements, taking our market share to 14% of the market; but we recognise there is even greater potential. Investing in these two new sites demonstrates that we are very serious about expanding the business in Ireland and that we see it as a key target in our strategic plans. We are also working with a number of customers and prospects on how we can continue that growth. Importantly, we are prepared to work with our customers to secure further land in other areas of Ireland, if required.”

Mark Prendergast, Operations Manager at Goggins, added: “We’ve enjoyed a good working relationship with LPR and the time was right to extend that partnership with the two new depots. We both have ambitious ideas for growing the sites and ensuring that our customers receive the level of service that they demand.”

LPR covers Western, Southern and Eastern Europe with a network of more than 125 depots that manage pallet delivery, collection, inspection and repair. The business is comprised of 8 subsidiaries which manage operations in more than 20 countries, including the Goggins Transport depots in Galway and Dublin.
