IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 – Imbema presents integrated safety concept for vans

At the IAA in Hannover, from 15 to 20 September, Imbema will

present a new integrated safety concept for light commercial vehicles. At the heart of the

concept is a new intelligent gas detection system for the load compartment. At stand E41 in

Hall 13, Imbema will demonstrate how ventilation, vehicle security and ergonomics come

together in one complete package for safety and comfort.

The new gas detection system will make its trade show debut at the IAA. It continuously

monitors the air quality in the load compartment. Even low concentrations of potentially

hazardous gases are detected early and reliably. As soon as threshold values are exceeded,

the system automatically issues a warning.

In combination with the proven Easy Aero Electric powered roof ventilator, the system can

also automatically reduce the gas concentration in the load compartment to below the

threshold value. As an option, the system can automatically send an alert to the driver or a

central monitoring centre, allowing additional measures to be taken promptly if necessary.

The system is primarily intended for companies transporting gas cylinders or other

hazardous substances in their vans. It provides an additional layer of safety that operates

fully automatically and requires no user intervention.

Also for electric vans

The integrated safety system has been developed specifically with the growing use of electric

vans in mind. Particular consideration has been given to extracting gases that are heavier

than air and therefore settle at floor level. Until now, this has generally been achieved by

installing one or more openings in the vehicle floor. In electrically powered vehicles, however,

this is difficult or even impossible because the battery packs are housed in a sealed

enclosure beneath the vehicle floor.

Imbema addresses this issue with a compact electric extraction unit installed at the lowest

point of the load compartment. The system captures heavy gases directly where they

accumulate and safely vents them to the outside through a short outlet beneath the vehicle.

Easy Aero: proven and safe

Reliable load-compartment ventilation is receiving increasing attention in the light commercial

vehicle sector. The EUMOS guideline for the ventilation of light commercial vehicles serves

as a reference in this area. For many years, Imbema has offered the proven Easy Aero roof

ventilation system, which operates without moving parts. This makes Easy Aero one of the

most robust and reliable systems on the market.

The patented Push & Pull Venturi technology provides continuous air exchange. Easy Aero

is also straightforward to install. For applications requiring higher ventilation rates, or where

ventilation is required while the vehicle is stationary, the system is also available in a

powered version: the Easy Aero Electric.
