*New Fleet purchases by Keywest, Walsh Waste & Greyhound
Dublin headquartered waste management service providers Keywaste has further expanded its Mercedes-Benz refuse collection fleet with the purchase of four new Econic 2630L 6×2 models.
With robust Powerlink refuse collection body supplied by Logic Fleet and finished in the company’s distinct vivid green livery, the new Econic is a truck that Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles Sales Manager, Fergus Conheady described as “ideally suited to waste collection in built-up areas due to its low cab and all-round good visibility.”
Keywaste selected 20 cubic metre bodies to minimise the overall vehicle length for built up areas. With its superior packing performance, the Powerlink 20 cubic metre body packs similar payloads of traditionally larger bodies. The Powerlink’s are equipped with UTL trade lifts designed for heavy duty trade waste applications.
With these units entering service in Dublin city this, brings the total number of Mercedes-Benz vehicles to eight in the Keywaste fleet.
Walsh Waste & Recycling, the Galway based waste management providers, has completed a significant investment in its refuse collection service through its purchase of a new Mercedes-Benz Antos, 2535L 6×2 model with a 2.3m ClassicSpace Cab and refuse collection body.
Soon to be seen on the streets of the city, the truck comes fitted with features that place it amongst the most modern in the country. Specification includes; velour-covered seats, adjustable air deflector, comfort cab and driver seat suspension. Safety features include Lane Keeping Assist, Attention Assist and Active Brake Assist. Bodywork is attractively finished to Walsh Waste specification in factory-painted metallic paint.
One of Ireland’s longest established and most experienced waste management companies, Walsh Waste & Recycling has set something of a trend by being the first in Ireland to choose the Big Bite Jnr Refuse Collection Body. With a proven track record in the UK, the Big Bite Jnr carries out multiple operations including 5,000kgs skip emptying along with the full range of domestic and trade container collections. The 25 cubic metre body provides ample carrying capacity, whilst being very manoeuvrable when fitted to the Antos 6×2 rear steer chassis.
The new vehicle comes complete with a trade approved Moba high accuracy underbody weighing system. The completed vehicle is being supplied by Logic Fleet, who distribute the full range of Powerlink, Big Bite and Farid Refuse Vehicles, along with distribution of Moba Vehicle Weighing Solutions.
Mercedes-Benz has continued to build on its presence in the commercial waste collection market with the sale of yet another Econic 2630L model, this time to Greyhound Waste, one of the largest commercial waste operators in Ireland.
Supplied to Greyhound by Walker Vehicle Rentals, the new Econic 2630L 6×2 is the latest in the current generation of Mercedes-Benz waste collection vehicles. Amongst a host of special features that make it ideal for-street-to-street operation are Lane Keeping Assist, Attention Assist and Active Brake Assist.
Described by Fergus Conheady as: “an ‘Econic’ combination best suited to working in a heavily-congested, multi-pickup urban environment”. Its various other features include full air suspension and a low entry cab that make it ergonomically comfortable for working long shifts on the road. Bodywork is fitted by Faun Municipal Vehicles in Germany and finished in the Greyhound’s recognisable, high-profile livery.
