Putting decarbonisation goals into practice: find out how at FTAI’s Transport Manager Seminar

Last year’s international COP26 conference generated international headlines for the global community’s commitments made to reduce emissions across the globe. But with many industries – including logistics – still relying on conventionally fuelled vehicles to deliver for customers, how are these commitments to be achieved, and how will industry reach the stated Net Zero targets as swiftly and efficiently as possible?

Decarbonisation will be the key topic under discussion at Freight Transport Association Ireland’s (FTAI) much-anticipated Transport Manager Seminar, to be held at The Johnstown Estate, Enfield, County Meath on 19 October. Back by popular demand, the event will allow delegates the opportunity to hear from a range of senior industry experts and policy makers who will be discussing key legislation and topical issues and enable all those who operate commercial vehicles to identify ways to reduce emissions and achieve Net Zero operations in the coming months.

“Our Transport Manager Seminar is one of the most popular events in the Irish logistics industry’s calendar,” explains Aidan Flynn, Chief Executive of FTA Ireland, “as it provides an in-depth opportunity for delegates to learn about the latest legislative changes affecting the sector. This year’s event, sponsored by DAF Trucks Ireland, will focus on decarbonisation and provide a wealth of information about alternative fuels, vehicle developments and sustainability. All this data will be vital if our sector is to transition to a low emission future swiftly and efficiently.

“Delegates will have a unique opportunity to view the very latest electric vehicles from DAF Trucks for themselves, as well as the chance to discuss innovations in delivering sustainability in discussion with Kingspan. The Chief Executive of the Road Safety Authority, Sam Wade, will also be on hand to update delegates on the road safety strategy, that will deliver a road to ‘vision zero’.”

The event, which will also be supported by Brigade Electronics, ENPROVA, Logistics Associate Apprenticeship Transport Operations and Commercial Driving Apprenticeship, with Fleet Transport as media partners, will provide those attending with all the information they require to operate fleets compliantly in the coming year.  And as Aidan added, this will provide the ideal opportunity for delegates to ask their own questions about the challenges of achieving a Net Zero future:

“Undoubtedly, the road to Net Zero will be a challenging one for our whole sector to achieve, but our Transport Manager Seminar will provide the first milestone on that route. Our sponsors will all be on hand with display stands and plenty of information available on the day to support our exciting agenda and discuss individuals’ queries about switching to alternatively fuelled vehicles. We are looking forward to a packed agenda and lots of opportunities for discussion as our industry works together to achieve the country’s environmental targets.”
