Shell Lubricants has been confirmed for a record 20th time as the number one best-selling global lubricants supplier. This two-decade run of industry leading momentum was recognised in the latest edition of Kline & Company’s report, Global Lubricants: Market Analysis and Assessment.
In the report, which covers all leading lubricant-consuming country markets, market segments, product types, and formulations, Shell has maintained its status as the leading global supplier of automotive and industrial oils and fluids. Shell retains its number one ranking across the three main lubricants categories tracked by Kline; consumer automotive, commercial automotive, and industrial.
Jason Wong, Global Executive Vice President of Shell Lubricants, said: “Today’s award is not just about retention, it is about 20 years of intentional focus on building momentum for our business and our customers. It reflects two decades of dedication from our team in supplying the right lubricant and fluid solutions for friction and thermal management to our consumer, commercial and industrial customers.”
Jason Wong continued:
“Over the last 20 years, our advances have powered performance for everyday drivers, critical industrial sectors, and even Formula 1 engines. We’re proud to power the world’s progress with our brand, technology, and people. Our focus now is looking forward, ensuring we continue to play a leading role in providing the lubricants and fluid solutions of tomorrow.”
Annie Jarquin, VP of Energy at Kline & Company, said: “The lubricants market has evolved significantly over the past two decades, and Shell’s position as market leader is due to their combination of consistency and adaptability, all whilst maintaining their global reach.”
Over the past two decades, Shell has consistently set industry milestones, from developing low-viscosity synthetic motor oils that unlock fuel savings and help protect vehicle value, to providing advanced predictive fluid diagnostics that can help reduce total cost of ownership for industrial customers.
Today, backed by a global supply chain of 31 lubricant oil blending plants and 300 R&D scientists, Shell is helping to meet future lubricants needs, including supporting the AI revolution with specialised data centre immersion cooling fluids, supporting the e-mobility transition with bespoke EV thermal fluids, and protecting sensitive environments with solutions such as biodegradable coolants for power infrastructure.
