Irizar e-mobility electric buses are going ashore in the Netherlands for the first time at the hands of operator Arriva Personenvervoer Netherland. In total, Irizar e-mobility will be supplying 39 units to the operator Arriva. Eighteen units will be 12-metres long and the other 21 units will be 18-metre articulated units, all of them will be the Irizar ie tram model. They will provide service in several cities in the Oost-Brabant region. Delivery of the buses is scheduled for December 2026.
Irizar e-mobility will supply Arriva Personenvervoer Netherherland with a total of thirty-nine 100% electric buses that will be put into operation in the Oost-Brabant region, specifically in the cities of Tilburg and ‘s-Hertogenbosch. The buses will be incorporated into the Arriva Netherland public transport network, and they will operate on a high-capacity BRT line.
It is the first time that Irizar e-mobility is supplying electric buses in the country. “We would like to thank Arriva for putting their trust in us. This order is very important for us. Because it means including a new country in our portfolio and continuing to broaden and expand our electromobility solutions. We’re looking forward to seeing the new buses on the road in the Oost-Brabant region and watching residents enjoy the experience of travelling in the Irizar ie trams.“, commented Global Sales Director of Irizar e-mobility José Antonio Sola recently.
“We are thrilled with these beautiful buses. They perfectly meet the needs for the busy, high-frequency city lines in Tilburg and ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Plenty of light, plenty of space, the ability to board quickly, and a distinctive, futuristic design,” says Jan Pieter Been, Regional Director South at Arriva Netherlands. “We have high expectations for these vehicles and look forward to putting them into service in December.”
