Opel Automobile GmbH owners, the Stellantis Group, through its ProOne light commercial vehicle platform, has launched the new Movano large van range, aiming to set new standards in the segment. At the same time two powertrain versions are developed and introduced, the new diesel and new electric variant. Details of both units are featured below.
Movano: Diesel engines
- Highly efficient Euro 6e turbodiesel engines with a displacement of 2.2 litres
- Power outputs range from 88 kW (120 hp) to 132 kW (180 hp)
- Transmissions: 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic gearbox
- Maximum torque of up to 380 Nm for manual and 450 Nm for automatic gearbox
- Together with aerodynamic improvements to the body, the drivetrains reduce fuel consumption by up to 9 percent compared to the previous engines
Cockpit, assistance systems, infotainment and connectivity
- Pioneering driving assistance system: Level 2 automated driving possible in Movano for the first time thanks to combination of adaptive cruise control with “Stop & Go” function, lane keep assist and traffic jam assist, the Movano steers, brakes and accelerates itself at speeds up to 30 km/h
- Up to 21 driver assistance systems available. These include:
o Traffic Sign Recognition
o Forward Collision Alert with Emergency Braking
o Side Blind-spot Alert
o Drowsiness Alert
o 360-degree camera
o Digital rear-view mirror
o Parking Assist

- Electric power steering automatically adjusts the assistance to the speed of the vehicle
- Electric parking brake is activated via a switch on the instrument panel to the left of the steering wheel
- Additional versatility is provided by the new 230 V dashboard socket that enables electrical devices to be powered or recharged
- Cockpit with fully digital, configurable 7-inch colour driver information centre
- New Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible infotainment and navigation system with 10-inch colour touchscreen
- Navigation possible using TomTom navigation maps in 3D
- OpelConnect services with emergency call, breakdown call, vehicle status and information as well as remote control and Connected Navigation Pack Plus including trip planner
- Inductive smartphone charging via tray in the centre console

- Wide selection: many different variants from panel van to platform chassis, crew cab, flatbed and soon tipper

Movano Electric: Electric drive, performance and range
- New electric motor with an output of 200 kW (272 hp) and 410 Nm of maximum torque
- New 110 kWh battery enables range of up to 420 kilometres (according to WLTP1)
- Underfloor design of the battery offers full versatility in terms of space utilisation and loading volume, lowers the vehicle’s centre of gravity and improves driving stability
- Top speed: 130 km/h (limited)
- Three driving modes: Normal, Eco and Power
- Regenerative braking system that can be adjusted in four recuperation levels using paddle shifters behind the steering wheel
- First Opel to offer the option of charging with up to 150 kW DC
- At a public fast charging station, it only takes 55 minutes to recharge to 80 per cent of the battery capacity
- Tailored charging options right up to the “Universal Charger”
