Caroline Bucquel joins Fáilte Ireland after a distinguished career in the public and NGO sectors and is the first woman to become CEO of the organisation.
Prior to joining Fáilte Ireland, Caroline spent two years (2023 – 25) as CEO of Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM), where she also served as Director of Corporate Affairs for two years previously (2021 – 23). In this role, she led the Irish seafood industry through significant post-Brexit disruption.
The aquatech and seafood industries grew significantly while she was involved with BIM, with 25% value growth being reported last year in aquatech and the Irish seafood industry growing by 4% to €1.24bn last year.
She was GOAL Global’s Chief Financial Officer from 2019 to 2021.
Her longest-running job to date was as director of corporate services at the Marine Institute (2002 – 2019).
She was a director of SmartBay Ireland for eight years (2012 – 20).
She is currently the Chairperson of the Audit and Risk Committee of the Environmental Protection Agency, having been a member of the Committee since 2018.
She is a chartered accountant and worked in the sector in both Dublin and San Francisco from 1997 to 2002.
