In January this year, Carousel announced its merger with in-night logistics specialist DANX, subsequently establishing DANX Carousel group. Axcel, a leading private equity firm based in the Nordic region, acquired both businesses and subsequently combined the two.
Primarily, the acquisition offers all DANX Carousel clients access to Alltrans’ extensive network and an enhanced service offering throughout Ireland; facilitating seamless, complete end-to-end solutions. Key services offered by Alltrans include nationwide next-day coverage, same-day domestic services, international ad-hoc services and break-bulk distribution. This enhanced portfolio responds to growing market demand, supporting in the rapid fulfilment of parts and products between Ireland and mainland Europe.
Alltrans clients will benefit from Carousel’s established European air network for time critical freight movements to and from the UK and mainland Europe. In addition, Carousel’s market-leading processes and proprietary technology will together provide complete control, especially at the final mile. Clients will also benefit from enhanced reporting and data quality for improved day-to-day logistics management.
With operations located in Dublin and Cork, Alltrans is a leader in the Irish transport industry employing approximately 120 people across the country. The company has an emphasis on the supply of quality wholesale distribution services, focusing on the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.
Commenting on the new acquisition, DANX Carousel group Managing Director – Western Europe, Lars Ryssel stated: “Our mission is to deliver the very best service to our clients, without the need to compromise. So, as well as being a key step in realising our ambition of becoming the European leader for time-critical in-night logistics, this news is also a great example of how we listen and respond to market demand. The deal brings together leading technology, robust services and enhanced account management, ultimately providing seamless end-to-end solutions that will meet and exceed client expectations. Alltrans is a great fit for Carousel and the wider DANX Carousel group. The company has a similar culture to us, and we are well matched in the belief that our teams are central to our success. As such, we are happy to welcome the entire team to the organization and we look forward to achieving more success together in the future.”
Founder of Alltrans & CEO, Paul Tuohy, added: ”By joining the DANX Carousel group, Alltrans is in a position to extend our service portfolio and offer a greater range of services, all for the benefit of our clients. The coming together of these two, like-minded businesses will also bring lots of opportunity to our staff, which is crucially important to me. Our many years of success has always been due to the commitment shown by our excellent team, so I’m happy they will also benefit from the training and development opportunities that will come from being part of a larger company.”
Paul Tuohy will remain post-deal to facilitate a smooth transition. The company will then be headed up by its current Managing Director, Lochlann Doherty who will be working closely with Carousel UK&IE Operations Director, Andrew Lowery, post-integration. All operations, locations and account management teams, will remain unchanged.
