The UK & Ireland Fuel Distributors Association (UKIFDA) the liquid fuels trade association has announced that the sponsor for the first day of the two-day Future Fuels conference on 7-8 July is insurance broker Aon.

UKIFDA, organisers of the liquid fuels distribution industry annual event UKIFDA EXPO, welcome Aon, joining fellow sponsors Cobo Tankers and Services Ltd and Phillips 66 Ltd.

“We’re excited about this year’s EXPO as it marks the first time the event has been held virtually in its 40-year history – and we’re delighted to announce that Aon, who has a long track-record of supporting our industry event, will be sponsoring day one of the two-day event,” says Ken Cronin, UKIFDA Chief Executive.

UKIFDA took the decision back in January to make this year’s exhibition virtual, in a bid to ensure everyone is able to attend in the safest possible way and participate in the days’ programmes without any Covid-related restrictions or concerns.

John Jenkins of Aon commented on the promotion: “It is fantastic to be sponsoring the opening day of the first ever virtual UKIFDA EXPO as Aon. Having been involved in so many of the previous EXPOs over the years as both The John Reynolds Group and Henderson Insurance Brokers, it’s wonderful that as our first year fully integrated into Aon that we are able to support the Future Fuels conference in its new online format. We know that exhibitors and visitors will enjoy the virtual experience and get so much from it as it really is the industry’s key event and provides the chance to discuss important issues and connect with others from across the sector.”

Dawn Shakespeare, UKIFDA Membership and Events Manager, added: “Aon has been fully involved and supportive of our EXPOs for many years, and it’s brilliant they are once more giving their support by sponsoring the first day of what will be our first virtual conference. We are anticipating some 50 exhibitors online this year and in excess of 800 delegates over the two days.”

“We have channelled our initial disappointment at not having a physical exhibition this year into sheer determination to make this virtual event as successful as every other year has been for the past 40+ years. There are greater challenges to organising a virtual event but also greater opportunities and we plan to fully make the most of both to ensure our first virtual event is a triumph. The line-up for the two days is eclectic, relevant and future-focussed, designed to enable easy participation and discussion with our online audience. Among the topics planned for the Aon sponsored first day conference are the UK and EU-wide impacts on our industry over the next decade, goals for fuel poverty and how our industry can help further with this in the future, and key market trends of recent years and likely trends for the future. Importantly and as a theme running across the two days, we will showcase the industry’s hard work with regard to meeting carbon emission targets through the introduction of renewable liquid fuels and a roadmap for a decarbonised future.  We want as many companies and individuals as possible to join us virtually on 7th and 8th July, and want exhibitors and visitors alike to join our discussions across the two-day event – and look forward to connecting with everyone,” concluded Ken.
