Kilkenny County Council have advised the Authority of the below changes to traffic flow and bus stops in Kilkenny City. If any of the below changes impact your current licence(s), please contact the Authority by reply email as soon as possible.
Vicar Street Kilkenny Diversion and Changes to Bus Stops
Kilkenny County Council intends to carry out development comprising improvement works to Vicar Street, Kilkenny in 2025 including making the street one way for vehicular traffic.
As a result of this proposal, buses will be diverted from Vicar Street to Grange Road on a permanent basis and the following bus stops will be removed:
- Vicar Street Stop 10292 (Vicar Street, Northbound)
- Vicar Street Stop 10293 (Vicar Street, Southbound)
- Loreto Stop 10294 (Freshford Road, Northbound)
- Loreto Stop 10295 (Freshford Road, Southbound)
The proposed diversion for buses is via Dean St, Grange Road and Parkview as shown in Map 1.0 below.
Three new pairs of bus stops will be constructed to facilitate this diversion, as shown on Map 1.0. There will be a northbound and southbound stop at Butt’s Green, Ayrfield and Grange Road.
This diversion is scheduled to take place from Sunday April 27th 2025.
