FTA Ireland Sustainable Transport Seminar 2024

The annual FTA Ireland Seminar took place on the 17th of October 2024 at The Johnstown Estate Hotel. The event was rebranded this year to ‘Sustainable Transport Seminar’, where the key theme was decarbonisation and sustainable transport and logistics operations.

Sustainability as a term is perhaps overused, as it extends beyond environmental issues and depending on the context means ‘ability to maintain or support a process over time’. This was also a reason for changing the title, as it is just as important to focus on key issues that support our members businesses develop and thrive into the future. The seminar as is tradition, takes account of the key issues that are impacting FTA Ireland members and the broader Freight Distribution and Logistics sector.

Topics such as skills shortage, operator compliance, operational costs and road safety were all covered by expert speakers.

The 2024 edition of the Managers Guide to Distribution Costs Report was launched and is available to download here: https://ftai.ie/cost-of-distribution/

The FTA Ireland Managers Guide to Distribution Costs has established itself as a well-regarded publication providing a valuable insight into the transport industry in Ireland. What makes the Guide now in its 6th edition, of particular benefit to the industry is that the annual publication allows for a real-time monitoring with a year on year comparison of the costs that affect the industry. This comparison enables operators to plan for the future with an increased level of confidence.

Full report and photographs will be featured in the November edition of Fleet Transport which will be published early next week.
