- Today, the Coach Tourism & Transport Council of Ireland (CTTC) Vice-Chair, Brendan Crowley, and Executive Council member, JJ Kavanagh, attended further discussions with Government focused on supports for the commercial bus and coach sector.
- The CTTC used these discussions to set out a package of important measures aimed at protecting essential bus and coach services across the country, including school transport, coach tourism, private hire, and scheduled services.
- We are encouraged by the focus on our industry’s challenges and the greater understanding within Government of the strategic importance of commercial bus and coach operators.
- We want to acknowledge Minister Darragh O’Brien and Minister Sean Canney, and their officials, for the constructive manner in which they have engaged, and for the interest they have shown in the proposals put forward by CTTC. We look forward to re-engaging with them again on Monday, 13 April.
- It is vital now that our next engagement is matched by early action. Operators need certainty, and the sector needs practical supports that can be delivered without delay.
- CTTC remains deeply concerned about fuel price inflation and the severe pressure it is placing on operators, many of whom are working hard to maintain services and deliver the strategic transport links that people, businesses, and communities rely on every day.
