In an exciting finish on the new Cargobike course, the e2trail trailer, the Super Mighty from Super Bicycles and the Cargo Pack from Mubea won the awards out of 18 candidates. VDA Managing Director Jürgen Mindel presented the prizes.
After an exciting test on the new cargo bike course at the IAA TRANSPORTATION in Hanover, manufacturers Mubea with the Cargo Pack, Super Bicycles Super Mighty and e2trail Lifter won the ‘International Cargobike of the Year 2024’ awards. The winners had opened up new possibilities for cargo bike logistics in their respective categories, summarised LOGISTRA Head of Test + Technology and initiator Johannes Reichel on behalf of the jury.
The Super Mighty brings affordability to the lightweight class, paired with robustness, easy handling and flexibi-lity. Designed according to industry standards, the powerful electrically e2trail, designed according to industry standards, enables pallets and general cargo to be transported by bike. The quad bike from Mubea transports automotive quality paired with fine handling and high practicability into the top class. At the presentation of the awards, VDA Managing Director Jürgen Mindel emphasised the growing importance of cargo bikes in the transport mix.
With the renaming of the trade fair to ‘IAA TRANSPORTATION’, the expansion to a platform for the entire logistics sector and explicitly included light vehicles, said Mr. Mindel.
In cooperation with the German Cycle Logistics Association (RLVD), the VDA acted as partner of the Cargo Bike Award, which was initiated by the trade magazine LOGISTRA from HUSS-VERLAG in 2019. The IAA had designed an enlarged cargo bike course, which was positioned more prominently than ever at the West Entrance and guaranteed a high level of attention from the trade fair visitors. Visitors were also able to try out the bikes of the exhibiting manufacturers and award participants on the course. In this context, the National Bike Logistics Conference, organised for the fifth time, was also fully integrated into the IAA TRANSPORTATION for the first time on the day before the Cargobike Award.
The award entered the new round with a strong participation of 18 candidates, in particular with a balanced line-up in all three classes. There was a lively discussion about the trailers in particular lively discussion, Mr. Reichel outlined. Another first was the assessment by cargo bike experts from BG Verkehr, who were on site to get an idea of the occupational safety aspects of the bikes.
