2021 is a special year for the well-known Wexford transport firm, J. C. Breen & Co. Ltd., which celebrates 35 years in business. And to mark the occasion, the family owned company has taken delivery of a brand new Mercedes-Benz Actros 2535 6×2 rigid truck.
Supplied by local Mercedes-Benz dealer, Somers Commercials, of which the Breens have been a customer for three decades, the new 26 tonne curtainsider brings to 30, the number of Mercedes-Benz trucks now on the Ferns-based haulier’s fleet.
Finished in the company’s familiar red livery, and soon to be a recognisable sight on Irish roads, the Actros with 2.3m Midi-cab comes complete with a tail-lift and Cargotec Moffett Engineering truck mounted forklift, with curtainside body fitted by Fitzgeralds Vehicle Body Builders.
Driver safety and comfort specified include 8-speed PowerShift automated gearbox, a high performance engine brake and Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) plus Multimedia cockpit, Bluetooth connections, driver’s comfort seat, etc.
Founded in 1986, by the late John Breen, J. C. Breen & Co. Ltd is now run by John’s wife Theresa, sons Nick and Barry, daughter Ashleigh and a highly experienced team of staff. A well-respected businessman and prominent member of the Irish Road Haulage Association (IRHA), John contributed much time to the organisation for many years, and is dearly missed by the industry.
Today, Breens operate a fleet of over 55 trucks and pride themselves on a nationwide next day delivery service, the company also specialises in import and export consignments to the UK, warehousing and storage, home delivery and refrigerated delivery services.
