During April and May 2020, Chenglong, a commercial vehicle brand of Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co., LtdĀ achieved sales in China exceeding 10,000 units consecutively. Following this achievement, Dongfeng launched a new brand strategy for Chenglong and the new truck product, the H7 3.0.
Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co., Ltd, which was founded in 1954, is now a state-owned subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd. and Guangxi Liuzhou Industrial Investment Development Group Co., Ltd.. It is Dongfengās commercial vehicle and Ā passenger car production base, and houses the brandās R&D facility, employing 5,000 currently.
Tang Jing, General Manager of Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co., Ltd, commented on the launch day: āChenglong is not just aāvehicle’, it is changing from Chenglong Automobile to Chenglong, with technical upgrades from vehiclemanufacturing to providing comprehensive logistics operation solutions; from vehicle-focused to more people-focused and customer-focused.ā
Featuring all of todayās modern driver assistance and safety technology, the new truck pictured at the big ceremony is a 6Ć4 version of the H7 3.0 tractor-unit, powered by a 600 hp Cummins Z14 engine, with a ZF TraXon automated gearbox. It is reported that the online order for H7 3.0 reached 3,675 units on the launch day. By the end of June, customers can buy this brand new product at any one of its 45 dealerships.
With the new H7 3.0, Chenglong reached autonomous Level 2 for public road use. In preproduction tests, the H7 reached Level 4, which will be beneficial to tomorrowās requirements such as fleet platooning, driverless port logistics, and closed area operations.
