Freightliner, the Daimler Truck’s leading brand in North America recently unveiled the fifth generation of its heavy-duty model Cascadia.
“It has been almost two decades since the first Freightliner Cascadia was launched, and with over one million units sold, it is currently the most driven Class 8 truck in North America”, stated John O’Leary, President and CEO, Daimler Truck North America. “This newest version is based on extensive market research with our dealers, fleets, and drivers to identify their needs and build on this legacy of excellence. That’s why the new Generation Cascadia sets new standards: more safety features, greater efficiency and increased profitability for our customers.”
Through four generations of proven performance, the Freightliner Cascadia has continued to provide fuel efficiency gains of more than 35 percent since the model’s first introduction. Key aerodynamic improvements for the fifth generation provide additional fuel economy benefit of 1.9 percent and include a new hood design, a redesigned A-pillar deflector, three-piece front wheel well closeouts, a hood-to-bumper seal, and new bumper air ducts that direct airflow around the underbody and tires to increase efficiency. Also available is the option of the new Max Aero Bumper, which brings even greater efficiency without sacrificing ground clearance, durability or serviceability.
The fifth generation Freightliner Cascadia is scheduled to begin production in U.S. and Mexico plants mid-2025.
