TIP Trailers’ charity fundraising effort for this year is now finished, with this year’s cycle ride raising £93,111 for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice in Staffordshire.
In June, a team of nearly 50 TIP customers, staff and partners from across the UK and Irish transport industries tackled the ‘Game of Thrones’ Croatian challenge to cycle 300 kilometres from Split down to Dubrovnik, over 3 days.
The team tackled busy roads, blistering heat and more than 11,000 feet of hill climbing along the Dalmatian Coast in order to complete the challenge.
The nominated charity to benefit from the effort this year is the ‘Dougie Mac’ Hospice, which provides care services to children, young adults, adults, and their families, with life-limiting illnesses throughout North Staffordshire and surrounding areas.
Deborah Vickers, Head of Business and Community Fundraising at the Douglas Macmillan Hospice, commented at the event: “Here at Dougie Mac, we rely on the support from businesses like TIP, together with their supporting partners. They have been incredibly generous to us over the years and we are always astonished at the support we get from them.”
The nine fundraising escapades across Europe over the last decade have helped raise £520,000 for various charitable causes.
Mike Furnival, Managing Director of TIP added: “Our team of ‘23 are both delighted and humbled to attract the necessary support in smashing our fundraising target for this year. Moreover, to have raised more than £500,000 over the past nine rides is an incredible achievement. We are so grateful to our cycling team members, official sponsors, and to all those colleagues, friends and family members that have supported us over the years.”
