Introducing the Kaiyun Pickup XR, 02 & 03 from Kaiyun Motors, Bejing
While the latter two ‘armoured heavy duty time machines’ were premiered at the recent IAA Transportation commercial vehicle show in Hannover, Germany, the XR pickup truck, powered 100% electrically, which reaches a top speed of 80 km/h and, with its maximum range of 120 km, is one of the most economical 4×4 AWD light commercial vehicles for short-distance travel.
Municipalities, universities, hotels, dormitories, industrial and craft businesses, delivery services as well as farmers and foresters, leisure and wildlife parks are the XR’s target market.
Powerful and efficient, it is ready for big tasks with its 4×4 all-wheel drive . At the same time, it is environmentally friendly and economical.
The robust and durable body, made of pressed and welded steel sheets, has successfully passed various crash tests AND meeting current safety standards.
The Kaiyun Motors project started as a subsidiary of the design company CSG DESIGN, which also develops vehicle designs for the Hongqi brand, the Chinese alternative to Rolls-Royce.
The engineers at Kaiyun Motors have been dedicated to the design and development of new electric vehicles for the local supply sector since 2013 and have been working in cooperation with the Harbin Institute of Technology in China, for the past four years. The body structure newly developed by Kaiyun offers improved protection for the occupants and was registered as a patent in 2018. In Europe, the project is linked to a German specialist automotive company, which has developed a high-quality electronics concept for the Kaiyun vehicles.
The heavy duty van 02 and truck 03 product line uses stainless steel in the manufacturing with a paint free process and uses hydrogen as a long -range energy source. Both commercials displayed at the IAA offer electric, diesel and hydrogen powertrains. Various chassis and body types are supplied, including a mobile vendor van, refuse collection truck and tractor-unit.
