Belfast artist Jonny Beckett intrigued guests at the Champions Club at last weekend Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, with a special tribute portrait painting of Red Bull Racing’s double Formula 1 Champion Max Verstappen, who extended his lead in the Drivers’ Championship with another controlled and calculated victory, in very wet conditions.
Jonny began his drawings on the Friday and completed his masterpiece on Sunday afternoon in time for the race finish. Pictured is a series of photos on the phased progress of his work each day.
Also the Champions Club, three time F1 World Champion Jackie Stewart paid a visit to endorse the F1 Experiences Online Charity Auction on behalf of Race against Dementia. There was a vast array of motorsport related merchandise and artifacts for sale, with the funds raised going to the organization.
At the event, Jackie said: “When Helen, my wife of over 60 years, was diagnosed with dementia in 2015, I learned that nothing could be done. There is no cure and no real treatment available. I am determined to change this in my lifetime. 55 million people are currently living with dementia across the world and sadly, if nothing changes, one in three people born today will die with dementia. This is a global problem. Race Against Dementia funds the brightest of scientists to work to find solutions. Any help you can give would be most appreciated. I am incredibly grateful to the team at F1 Experiences for their support with this auction and encourage you all to bid high and support the work that RAD is doing!”
