Primeline Group has completed the acquisition of Avon Freight

Primeline, the County Meath-based logistics group has expanded its international footprint as it welcomes Avon Freight, a specialist logistics provider based in Birmingham. The deal marks a major milestone for Primeline as Avon is the first member of the Group to have its headquarters in Britain.

Primeline Group is Ireland’s largest independent provider of logistics and route to market solutions to some of the world’s leading brands. As County Meath’s largest employer, the firm has a workforce of 1,200 people across its operations and the company’s facilities spans almost  two million sq feet in Ireland and the UK.

Avon was established in 1979 and has grown to become a leading player in providing warehousing and transport solutions in the UK and daily freight services across the UK and into Ireland. The company’s customer base includes a wide range of industrial, retail and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) clients.  Avon employs more than 120 people and has a large fleet of vehicles, operating from three facilities in Birmingham covering a combined total of 250,000sq ft.

Commenting on the deal, CEO of Primeline Group Tim Cummins said: “We’re very excited to welcome Avon Freight to the team. This acquisition will enable us to broaden our footprint in the UK market following our acquisition of GCS in Northern Ireland last year, whilst also enabling synergies across our entire operations. It will also allow us to service the UK requirements of our existing customer base. “

Primeline Group’s fleet of vehicles makes over 25,000 deliveries to more than 7,500 outlets around Ireland each week. The Group has developed its logistics network to ensure it covers every town in Ireland every day. Its sales colleagues call on more than 3,000 retail outlets monthly.
