After a month of royal fever, royalty are very much front of mind the world over, and ICEFAT, a global network of art logistics agents, are no exception. As part of their dynamic art logistics offering, ICEFAT agents work with royalty year-round, offering their exceptional services to fulfil complex and intricate royal projects.

Supporting National Institutions

Public heritage bodies have opened the doors of royal residences past and present to the public, and ICEFAT agents directly support these efforts.

  • In Spain, TTI International Art Services works with the Patrimonio Nacional (National Heritage), and recently conducted a 6-week operation to transfer cultural and historical artefacts from Real Casa del Labrador to the Royal Palace of Aranjuez.
  • In Sao Paolo, Brazil, Millenium Transportes supported the public presentation of an imperial collection with the Museu Paulista Collection, more commonly known as “The Emperor’s Palace”. This project took 16-months of preparation, packing, transportation and unpacking of the collection of 18,000 works for long-term storage in its fine art storage facility, stored for over nine years, then re-installed over a 5-month period.

Delivering Royal Mystique

Exhibitions that celebrate the mystique of historic royal collections are popular globally, and ICEFAT agents have been responsible for sharing items of immense national heritage with the rest of the world.

  • Indian ICEFAT agent Star Worldwide delivered a collection from Udaipur’s City Palace Museum to the National Museum of Asian Art in Washington DC for “A Splendid Land: Paintings from Royal Udaipur.” The project involved the transportation of artefacts packed in bespoke crates, transported in climate-controlled vehicles, and shepherded through customs clearances with airport supervision.
  • In Turkey, 185 Ottoman treasures from three Istanbul museums were packed by ICEFAT agent Bergen International Movers and shipped for exhibition in various cities in Japan, with the Japan-side transportation undertaken by Tokyo-based agent Yamato Global Logistics.

Founded in 1977, ICEFAT is the art transport network of choice for the world’s leading museums, galleries, institutions and private collectors, bestowing confidence in its seamless international service and universal adherence to the highest industry standards.  By working with an ICEFAT member, clients are informed and able to exploit the expertise of the wider global community.  This provides them with reassurance that the complexities of international fine art logistics are taken care of, and this is reinforced by the requirement of some insurers to only work with ICEFAT members.

Membership of ICEFAT provides prestige to an art logistics business, validating their business through the robust membership standards and EY audits.  Members feel a sense of pride and trust in the collective expertise of the international ICEFAT community and this collaborative approach supports members’ commercial growth.
