German trailer and bodybuilder Kögel is continuously improving and developing its product portfolio. On one hand to meet the requirements of its customers and on the other, in order to comply with statutory provisions.
The amendment of EU Directive UN/ECE R58 in the 03 series of amendments comes into effect Europe-wide on 1 September.
” These new regulations will apply to rear under-run guards, and Kögel trailers will be even safer. Under-run guards will not only need new geometric properties, but will have to withstand test forces almost twice as high as before. The new EU Directive requires the absorption of forces up to twice as high, extended cantilever arms and a reduction in the maximum distance from the ground from 550 mm to 450 mm,” said a company spokesperson.
The improved product characteristics mean a significant increase in safety – but also result in more weight. The Kögel engineers counteract this additional weight with state-of-the art and sustainable vehicle innovations. To do this, Kögel has extensively optimised its underrun guard range, thus significantly boosting safety on the roads.
