Wanted … Ireland’s Most Skilful & Eco-friendly Professional Drivers

The Irish Professional Driver Championships take place on the 16th & 17th of July at the Circle K Motorway Service Area in Kilcullen, County Kildare. 

The aim of the Championship is to promote the skills of professional drivers and to select representatives for Team Ireland to compete against the World’s Best Professional Drivers in the 32nd UICR Professional Driver’s World Championship from 8th to 11th September 2022 in Zagreb, Croatia  and To be crowned the World Champion 2022 and to be called the most Professional Skilled Driver and or the most Professional ECO Driver of the World, according to Barry Lyons, on behalf of the organisers.

“Drivers will be competing against Professional Drivers from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein, Netherlands, Uruguay, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, USA and Zimbabwe. The biannual event sees Professional Drivers from across the globe compete in knowledge, driving skills and economical driving techniques of Truck, Bus/Coach and Van driving competitions to be crowned the World Champion of 2022. Trials to select a team of 14 drivers for Team Ireland are taking place in CircleK Service Area in Kilcullen Co Kildare on the 16th & 17th of July 2022. Team Ireland will be made up of 3 drivers in the following categories, Van, Bus/Coach, Rigid, Artic and two drivers in the ECO Driving Competition,” he explained.

To compete in the trials, entrants must be employed as a professional driver, have a clean licence for the category trialling in, and have a  current CPC Card and a valid passport. The ECO Schedule is for CE Class Drivers Only. Drivers will be provided with a fully loaded Volvo FH 500 tractor-unit and trailer.

Programme:

Saturday: ECO Schedule 08.00, 08.50, 09.40, 10.30, 11.20, 12.10, 13.30,

Sunday: ECO Schedule 08.50, 09.40, 10.30, 11.20, 12.10, 13.30,

Each competitor will be given a detailed course guide and all competitors will be provided with details of the make and model of articulated tractor unit along with access to a driver familiarisation guide.  

Skills Trials for B, C, D & CE Category licences.

All competitors will drive the same vehicle Saturday & Sunday prior to participating, all drivers must take and pass a Knowledge Test on Drives Hours, Health & Safety, and Vehicle Walk Around Check.
