Wednesday 12 September is the date for the annual Wright Insurance Brokers Transport & Logistics Seminar 2018.
The seminar is widely respected as a forum for highlighting the key issues facing operators in the industry. Representing the insurance needs of an estimated 20% of the Road Transport & Fleet Operator sector, Wright Insurance Brokers has its finger on the pulse of the sector. Now in its 8th year, the event held in Wexford, home of the company’s national headquarters, comes at a time when both the Insurance sector and the Transport & Logistics industry face severe challenges, and the need for agility has never been greater.
Brexit remains the looming threat on the radar for the Transport & Logistics industry. Uncertainty prevails as the current ‘will they, won’t they,’ debate rages on. Britain is grappling to broker a deal that will appease its own political infrastructure, in addition to satisfying the EU. Whatever the outcome, the ramifications will be felt much deeper throughout the Irish economy. Economist Jim Power will deliver an update on the likely final position of Brexit negotiations, and how the Transport & Logistics industry in Ireland will need to adapt to survive and thrive in this new economic landscape.
Insurance Reform, and the measures proposed by both the Insurance sector and the Irish Government to tackle insurance fraud, will also have a significant impact on the finances of companies in the industry. These reforms and related issues will be discussed in a panel discussion hosted by Broadcaster & Journalist, Anton Savage. The panel will include Minister of State Michael D’Arcy; President of the Irish Road Haulage Association, Verona Murphy and CEO of Wright Group Brokers, Tony Wright. This promises to be a lively and insightful debate that cuts to the core of the issues and identifies potential solutions.
